Executive summary:

SEF1 accepts only students who can’t even speak 30 seconds of English (after eliminating all long pauses) to make them all speak at least 4-5 minutes (reminding you that the majority of the adults who can “speak the basic English” cannot speak 3 minutes of monologue of English in front of camera) in 4 month operations. Lee will operate 1 week for each month (for those who have the financial burdens) or operate 2 weeks per month, during the summer courses for the adults who had graduated already, or 4 week in 1 month for the super serious ones and financially secure. Although the price is expected to rise constantly, for the adults with the university diplomas already, for the May-June 2018 operations at least, the rule of thumb estimations of the SEF1 costs may be 5-10-15% of the monthly salary of the average university diploma holders. It is a minimally risky because after the first primary SEF1 week operation, if the participants cannot speak at least around 1 minute, they don’t need to continue on (although this will be rare). As such, with its minimum risk, the return of investment – whether they spend MXN 2,000, MXN 6,000 to be able to speak 4-5 minutes of English in front of camera – is many thousands of times larger than the money they put in in your life time. For this, for those who are sufficiently motivated to speak English as soon as possible, this will be the best investment in your life time because there is no other.

SEF1 (Speak English Fast) is a minimalist super-efficient, short program to make almost all participants to speak English with the 1-4 months of operations. In the vast majority of the university students in major cities in Chiapas, such as Tuxtla and Tapachula, the vast majority of the university students graduate after studying English (directly or indirectly) for 16+ years or 800+ weeks in their lives. And yet, only 1-2-3% of the adults who graduated from the universities seem to speak at least 1-2 minutes of English. This seems to have been confirmed at least in UNACH, UVG, SES, and IESCH in both Tuxtla and Tapachula. As far as I am aware, only ITESM and UVM seem to be the exceptions. Because even the basic English speaking ability in Mexico in general have the surplus annual income increase of about 40% nationally, not being able to speak the basic English make all the university graduates – including the UNACH students – they completely lose the surplus income of 7 million to 20 million pesos in their 40-50 years of life time careers. Virtually almost all traditional English education seems to fail as they need many years, big sums of money and studies, and yet almost universal failures to make them speak. Furthermore, almost all of those who can speak English this much can speak English before they even enter their universities.

What is the fastest, cheapest, and easiest way to speak the Basic English? Instead of complicating and confusing issues, Lee’s solution is very simple and clean. Here comes the SEF1 (Speak English Fast). Although its original version SESF1’s first experiment showed 7-30 times faster, due to its risk of creating too much skepticism and high price tags, SEF1 is the realistic solution to most students in the Southern Mexico. SEF1 programs will make all speak at least 4-5 minutes of English in front of camera, without written scripts with 70-95+% success rates, which is thousands of times more efficient than for instance what the UNACH (the best university of Chiapas) go through: 800+ weeks of studying English for 16+ years and only 1-2-3% can speak at least 1-2 minutes of English. In whichever manner, Lee will make 1 additional minute of Speaking English in each of his 1 week operation. So after 4 week operations in total, almost all the participants will speak at least 4-5 minutes of English in front of camera, without any script, which is thousands of times better than the success rate of 1-2% after 5-10-17 years of studying English. Agreed?

Solutions via the variations of SEF1: Lee doesn’t expect this to be the perfect solution. Obviously not, but this is the extremely critical step. For more nuanced English-ability, the students after SEF interventions need to improve their English as time goes on, but at least they can speak 4-5 minutes in just 1 semester of 4 months (by operating 1 week per each month to reduce the financial pression over 4 months), or for 2 months (which is more for the graduated adults who can afford to pay 2+ times more and complete it during 2 months in the summer vacation time frame. Or for some groups in need to speak English in just 1 months, the costs are at least 4+ times more expensive, intensive summer courses if enough of the university graduates want this as soon as possible. Please remember that the price will keep on rising, but once you start commit to the primary course to speak the first 1 minute, then your price is fixed from then on.

Minimum Risk:

  1. Only the fools believe in the eternal free rides.
  2. Although SEF1 prices will rise, after the first 1 week operation if the participants can’t speak at least 1 minute of English after 1 week in front of video camera, they don’t need to continue more.
  3. Suppose that in May 2018 operation costs (for 1 week operation to make all speak their first 1 minute of English in their life time) about MXN 600 for the current university students and MXN 1,200 for the adults or those who have graduated already. For the simplicity, let’s use its average about MXN 900. The 4 weeks of this operation is MXN 900 x 4 ~ MXN 3600. For the average monthly income of about MXN 10,000 with the university diplomas, this is roughly about 10% of their monthly income to repeat 4 times (not for years) only or equivalently about 2-3% of their annual income to make impacts for the life time career and financial advancements.
  4. After May 2018, however, the prices are expected to rise faster and at least for the Tapachula or Tuxtla adults, if they miss the May 2018 boats, in June or July, they may need to spend 20% of their monthly income for 4 times or 5-6% of their annual salary. After August on, will rise still higher. So you have to make the rational choice and jump in quickly for May 2018 operations of SEF1. If you can’t speak 1 minute of English, you don’t need to continue further. As simple as that.

Key updated high lights:

  1. Most of the adults who are considered to speak the Basic English can’t speak 3-4 minutes of monologue English in front of camera without written scripts.
  2. Time Compressions and Efficiencies comparisons
    1. The average, cumulative, financial impacts for the average university graduates: the following are roughly equivalent for this.
      1. 12 years of the formal education with all the diplomas combined.
      2. Average 4 years of the university diploma.
  • 1 semester (~ 0.4-0.5 year) of SEF1 to make all speak at least 4-5 minutes of English in front of camera.
  1. 1-2 months (0.1-0.2 year) of intensive course of SEF1 to speak at least 4-5 minutes of English in front of camera. (As the time is 2-4 times more compressed, will be at least 2-4 times more expensive).
  1. The brutal reality checks because you need to wake up first if you want to change your life.
    1. To the vast majority of universities in all major cities of Chiapas, including Tuxtla and Tapachula, except few universities with the students from the relatively rich families such as UVM or ITESEM, the average university students have studied English about 15-17 years till they graduate ~ 750-850 weeks of a life (averaging about 800 weeks). Yet mostly only 1-2% of the university students can speak at least 1-2 minutes of English.
    2. For those university students who can speak at least 1-2 minutes of English, the vast majority of them seem to be able to do so before they enter the universities, which means that the typical university English language programs contribute almost nothing to make their students speak at least the Basic English.
    3. In Mexico, the average financial impact of a university diploma or the ability to speak Basic English is about the same. Both of them contribute about 7-20 Million pesos of the additional income in your career life time.
  2. Thought provoking answers about which you need to be brutally honest.
    1. Question 1: so what do you prefer? 12 years of suffering or 4 years of struggles or to get the similar impacts in just 1 semester or 1 month? Not just the time is huge saving, the financial saving is massive.
    2. Question 2: Return of Investment in your life time due to SEF1 of 1000s of times vs. the typical university diploma with 10-20 times?
    3. Question 3: will you wait and wait till its prices rise 5-10-50 times over the next 2-3-5 years or take action immediately this month just to get the taste of speaking the first 1 minite of English in your life time?
Examples (For the average university graduates (studying English)) to speak at least 1(-2) minutes of English to speak at least 1 minutes of English during the first 1 week of the SEF1 Proportion
How many years (or weeks) have they studied English? 12 + 4~5 Unversity years ~ 800+ weeks in their lives 0.5-1 week 800+ weeks vs. 0.5-1 week
Success rate comparisons, including the UNACH language program included 1-2% of success 70-95% of success rate There is no comparison obviously.
Costs for the university graduates and adults Cumulatively a lot (and the wasted time is the money lost too) Monthly costs, for those who start in May: for the university students, about MXN 500-800.

For the adults, MXN 900-1,400

Each months its costs are expected to rise. So it is your interest to start when it is cheap.

  1. Expected cost rise warnings:
    1. In general, the costs for SEF1 is expected to rise almost constantly over the next 3-5 years or more. In 2018, it will be more expensive each if you start a month later.
    2. In general, for the adults who have graduated the schools or universities already, the SEF courses in general will be 70-100% more expensive than the costs for the students because the adults are earning money.
    3. Lee doesn’t expect to reduce the costs over the next years. It will keep on rising like the Bitcoin rise.

Solutions with SEF1

  • Summer courses: this summer for about 2 months between late May-early July 2018
  • Version 1: during about 6 weeks, there are 3 week operations to make all speak at least 3 minutes of English in front of camera. So it will operate as 1 week class, 1 week break alternatingly.
  • Version 2: (most costly) intense 4-5 week operations if there is enough high demands.

For this there are 3 SEF operation options.

  • Normal semester operation of autumn 2018 on: to operate 1 week per month, for 4 months of a semester and make all speak at least 4-5 minutes of English.
  • Summer course for speaking 3 minutes of English: 6 week version. 1 week class-1 week recess alternatingly. So during 6 weeks, there are 3 week operations to make all speak at least 3 minutes of English.
  • Intensive June operation (most expensive): For the eager adults who have graduated from the universities already and need to speak English as soon as possible: intensive 4 week classes in sequence in June to make all speak at least 4 minutes of English by the end of 1 month.
